Mural Arts Program, Philadelphia PA // Lead Teaching Artist // July 2014-Sept 2018

Responsible for creating and facilitating an arts-based curriculum for middle and high school students.  Promotes cross-curricular learning while helping to foster art content knowledge, personal art practice, portfolio preparation, critical thinking, and first hand experience in various public art projects centered around activism for social, political, and environmental change.  Sites include Asian Arts Initiative, The Attic Youth Center, Centro Nueva Creacion, and Furness High School.

Mural Arts Program, Philadelphia PA // Assistant Teaching Artist //June 2013-July 2014

Assisted teaching artist Patricia Barrera with instructing middle and high school students in a curriculum of art and activism geared towards developing a variety of art content knowledge, art history, creative thinking, and basic job skills through field trips, individualized instruction, class critiques, and assisting international muralists in the development and execution of original murals. Sites included Asian Arts Initiative, Centro Nueva Creacion, Congreso, and Edison High School.

 

Experience: 

Arts and Artists Outdoors Mural Arts Program  // September 2014 and April 2015

Facilitated a best practices professional development for incorporating art making into recreational center programming and wrote an arts-based curriculum for the Arts and Artist Outdoors Curriculum Guides that have been distributed to various recreational centers throughout the city in partnership with the Philadelphia Parks and Rec Program.  

 

Central High School, Philadelphia, PA // January-May 2013

Student teaching completed under the guidance of Andrea Keefe, instructing 9th-12th grade students in inclusive Art History, Art Practice, and Architecture classes to create, develop, and implement lesson plans, classroom management, media demonstration, lectures, critiques, testing, and foster creativity among students. 

 

Community Partnership Elementary School, Philadelphia, PA // August-December 2012

Worked with Audrey Jakab instructing pre-K -5th grade students in inclusive classes of Art practices and interdisciplinary arts to create, develop, and implement lesson plans, classroom management, media demonstration, creativity among students, and both fine motor and critical thinking skills.

Assisted Alicia Thompson instructing 7th grade English Language Learners in English classes working specifically to create, develop, and implement lesson plans, classroom management, critical thinking, and proficiency in both spoken and written English language skills among students.
